Nonprofit organizations strive to help those in need and improve their communities for everyone. Through the hard work and dedication of staff, supporters and volunteers (plus a little help from nonprofit giveaways), charitable organizations are making a difference in people’s lives every day.

The following stories illustrate how four organizations used nonprofit promotional items, provided by the 4imprint one by one® grant, to create opportunities for individuals with disabilities, bring cheer to children with cancer and more. Keep reading for heartwarming tales and inspirational ideas for your own nonprofit organization.

Encouraging adults, kids and pets to stay active

The Burlington Soccer Club provides opportunities for people of all ages, from children as young as 18 months all the way to adults, to enjoy the benefits of soccer. The organization’s programs, which include indoor, outdoor, competitive and development options, help players practice the skills and teamwork necessary to become a leader on the pitch and in life.

To fit with their yearly theme of “Giving Back to the Community That Has Given Us So Much,” the Burlington Soccer Club decided to host a fundraising game and donate the proceeds to a local animal rescue. With the help from a one by one grant it was also able to provide a dog bandana to each pet that attended the game.

Providing enrichment for people with disabilities

Between Friends strives to create an accessible community by providing enrichment and reducing barriers for people with disabilities. This effort includes offering summer day camps for children, adventure experiences for adults and opportunities for individuals without disabilities to discover ways to adapt their programs to make them more inclusive.

With the assistance of a one by one grant, Between Friends ordered golf balls with a new logo for their annual golf tournament, which helped raise awareness and funds for the organization’s activities.

Spreading love to children with cancer

The Super Sophia Project helps spread love and cheer to children with cancer. Love Boxes are given to children undergoing cancer treatment. They are filled with gifts and goodies, like fuzzy socks, coloring books and crayons, toys, crafting items and hygiene products like toothbrushes and toothpaste. Some boxes are also prepared for the families of the children, who are often far from the comforts of home.

Thanks to the one by one grant, The Super Sophia Project was able to purchase nonprofit promotional items, such as pens and a banner featuring a portrait of Sophia, the organization’s namesake, to help raise awareness of the project and recruit volunteers and donors.

Preserving a beloved heritage site

Friends of Scotsdale Farm helps oversee and maintain Scotsdale Farm, a 531-acre heritage site on the Niagara Escarpment, which is a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. The sprawling property includes farm fields, mature forests, wetlands and creeks home to unique plant and animal species, as well as heritage farm buildings and archaeological indigenous settlement sites.

Baseball caps provided through the one by one grant program help the organization’s members spread the word about the property, as well as the work they do to maintain it. The caps are also given away as gifts to donors who help support the organization’s efforts.
