With advertising competition fierce, finding unique ways to promote can help get your brand to stand out. Campus Village, a student housing complex in East Lansing, Michigan—home to Michigan State University, was trying to think outside of the marketing box. Skoop, a pedicab company, was coincidently using Campus Village’s parking lot to practice during the summer and caught the eyes of Campus Village employees.

After running outside to learn more about these cycle-pulled rickshaws, Campus Village found the advertising opportunity they were looking for. Skoop provides free rides on and around Michigan State’s campus via their electronically-assisted pedicabs. To ensure rides are free, they sell advertising space to local businesses and sponsors on their digital billboard, located on the back of the cab. Bonus: They also hand out sponsors’ promotional products to riders.

Campus Village got on board right away and purchased personalized bottles of water to be handed out during nighttime safe-rides home and between classes during the day. And with college football season in full swing, custom bottle openers were purchased (from 4imprint) to be handed out during tailgates.

What a great way to connect with your customer base, Campus Village!
