one by one® story: Wee Care Child Center

Making a personal difference in a child’s life is incredibly rewarding. Wee Care Child Center staff have the opportunity to help children from 8 months to 12 years grow, learn, explore and thrive every day. A nonprofit in Carman, Southern Manitoba, Wee Care provides full-time, part-time and causal childcare services to Carman and the surrounding areas. With 75 licensed childcare spaces in the main office and 45 licensed spaces for a school-age program, countless children have been given a safe, fun before- and after-school environment. Twenty full-time staff help make sure these kids have a great experience. To show appreciation, Wee Care gave tumbler giveaways to each team member.

The Wee Care team goes out of its way to help kids have an enjoyable, stimulating time. They craft, take walks, play mini golf and do countless other activities. The children also love it when people come in to present magic or bug shows.

For the staff, feeling appreciated can make all the difference in their morale. A gift as simple as a thermos can make someone’s day. Childcare isn’t an easy task, and often the days are long. As a before- and after-school center, staff drop children off at school and pick them up. They care for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, pre-K children and older kids up to age 12.

During an especially busy time for Wee Care, management wanted a tangible way to say thank you to each employee. Thanks to a 4imprint one by one® grant, it was able to do just that.

“Being a nonprofit, it’s sometimes difficult to show appreciation to our hardworking staff. Childcare wages are nothing to brag about, and often there isn’t much room in the budget for meaningful raises and bonuses. The tumbler giveaways are a wonderful way to show appreciation for our staff’s hard work and dedication to our center and the families we serve,” said Cody Coulombe, Assistant Director, and Elizabeth Morrisette, Cohort Supervisor.
