From animal rescues to schools to museums, organizations across the country help lift up their local communities. Part of the essential work done by staff, volunteers and others includes outreach—spreading the word about their missions in hopes of increasing support. With help from a 4imprint one by one® grant, these four organizations used nonprofit promotional items to improve outreach efforts.

Offering support and services after a cancer diagnosis

Cancer Support Community Central Ohio is in its 20th year of making a difference in the lives of people impacted by cancer. Based in Columbus, Ohio, the nonprofit provides free support for people with cancer, their families and their caregivers, regardless of diagnosis or stage. It provides a wide array of services, from counseling and support groups to health and wellness activities and beyond.

To help boost brand awareness, the organization used a one by one grant to purchase tote bags and backpack coolers. These nonprofit promotional items were given away at outreach events, including its 20th anniversary party, to help get the Cancer Support Community logo in front of as many people as possible.

Providing a safe and caring home for big cats

The Wildcat Sanctuary is a nonprofit rescue and advocacy organization celebrating its 25th anniversary year. It cares for nearly 150 animals, including lions, tigers, cheetahs, cougars, leopards and more, all rescued from across the United States, Canada, Argentina and Ukraine. While the team’s advocacy work can take them to various locations, their home base is an 85-acre sanctuary in northern Minnesota.

A one by one grant provided nonprofit swag, including tote bags and travel mugs, which are sold at outreach events. This grant gave a boost to the organization’s fundraising efforts which, like many nonprofits, is critical to its mission.

Offering a public school with private school learning styles

Horizon Montessori McAllen, in McAllen, Texas, is one of four charter schools in the Horizon Montessori system and is known for small class sizes and high student-to-teacher ratios. The school is also a STEM academy and serves about 340 students in preschool through 8th grade.

Representatives attend many events throughout the year to promote the school and discuss opportunities with families. Often, Horizon Montessori McAllen competes with other schools for attention at these gatherings. That’s why funds from a one by one grant went toward outreach items, including penscleaning cloths and compact mirrors, to attract attention and get the school’s branding out into the community.

Boosting educational opportunities for all ages

Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science & Technology (MOST) is a nonprofit museum in Syracuse, New York, focused on delivering dynamic science education to learners of all ages and abilities. Exhibits include everything from manufacturing technology to animatronic dinosaurs to the National Grid ExploraDome movie theater for documentaries and planetarium shows. It welcomes more than 100,000 visitors annually and hosts field trips seven days a week.

MOST used a one by one grant to purchase branded tote bags and pens. These promotional products were combined with other items from the museum gift shop to create gift bags for sponsors, volunteers, guests and other stakeholders.
