Swim, gym or childcare—through multiple programs for participants in every stage of life, the YMCA of Cumberland works to enhance people’s quality of life. From cultivating leaders to helping people live happy, healthy lifestyles, the Y provides meaningful programs that make a difference. These programs are made possible, in part, by fundraisers. The YMCA was looking to thank loyal attendees with useful hat giveaways.
Childcare: Learning, growing and having fun
The YMCA of Cumberland prepares young children, from newborn to age 6, for life-long achievement by nurturing their development in the most natural way possible—through play and social interaction.
The YMCA provides a safe space where children receive excellent care. The organization gives children positive experiences, helps them make friends and provides stimulating activities.
Providing life-changing memberships, no matter what
The YMCA of Cumberland staff want everyone in the community to enjoy a healthy lifestyle. A fundraiser that includes a trail run ending at a local micro-brewery allows the organization to offer subsidized memberships for people unable to afford the cost. One in six members are subsidized through the financial assistance program.
This was the fourth year the YMCA of Cumberland partnered with the micro-brewery to fundraise for the Y’s membership subsidy program. Participants enjoy a 6-kilometer run with a cold beer at the end.
Y staff wanted to give back to these participants with a useful gift. With their 4imprint one by one® grant, YMCA staff were able to provide a hat giveaway for each participant. “Now, every time one of the people who participated slips on their cap to go outside, they’ll have a tangible reminder of the Y and how we help the community—and their part in it,” said Jeff MacNeil, Manager of Development at the YMCA of Cumberland.
