National Small Business Week is May 1-7. Every year, small businesses create 1.5 million jobs. No matter what industry you’re in, small businesses support the local economy and create stronger communities. For 50 years, Small Business Week has commemorated the achievements and contributions of small businesses nationwide.[2] We offer ways to celebrate this special week with giveaway ideas for small businesses.

Say thank you with every order

Whether you just landed a new client or are helping a long-time customer, offering a tangible thank-you gift with each purchase throughout Small Business Week is a great way celebrate. There are thank-you giveaways at many price points, such as a Pebbles Light-Up Pen, Bubble Gum Sweets Cube or Forward Fabric Speaker with Wireless Charger. You can also offer a small discount on their next purchase. Or create a points system valid for the entire month of May where every purchase earns your customers points they can then redeem toward a future purchase or premium giveaway.

Host a small business open house

An open house is a great way to welcome customers while showing appreciation for their business. Send an invite to current customers and ask them to bring a guest. Imprint customized acrylic tumblers with a message of thanks and give one to everyone who stops by. Play music, provide coffee and cookies, and make sure your entire team is at the event to answer questions and mingle with customers. Provide drawings for random small business promotional items, like a Microfleece 1/2-Zip Pullover, Crossland® Vacuum Insulator Tumbler and Crossland Rollup Blanket.

Offer something exclusive

Offering a signature product or service, available only during Small Business Week, can drum up excitement and get people in the door. Choose something you don’t already offer—or at least, not very often. Maybe it’s a complimentary neck massage with every manicure purchase. Or a free branded coffee mug, imprinted with your logo and a catchy Small Business Week slogan, with every latte. You could also bag their purchase in a reusable Turnstone Shopping Tote that can earn them a discount on future purchases.

Throw a customer-employee party

Show customers and employees appreciation for supporting your small business. Host a party (virtual or in-person) with engaging games, useful prizes, fun giveaways and memorable party favors. A leatherette key ring is a useful item that makes a great game prize. Hold a raffle with coveted giveaways, like a COB Hook-up Work Light, 4-Person Rolling Picnic Set or a hammock. And give out party favors that will remind everyone just how great small businesses are. Turn those giveaway ideas into tangible gifts they’ll use repeatedly, like pop-out Silicone Measuring Cups and Canvas Catch-All Containers.

Team up with other small businesses

What better way to celebrate Small Business Week than to team up with another small business? If possible, promote their services and products as a complement to yours—and vice-versa. For instance, a candy shop can partner with a party supply store. Or a bike shop could partner with a nutrition store. Each business could offer a small discount to any customer who shows a receipt from the partnering business during Small Business Week.

Go a step further and partner with several neighboring businesses. Create a shopping passport where customers get a stamp from each store visited during Small Business Week. At the end of the week, they can enter a prize drawing (one entry for each stamp) for a grand prize, like a co-branded High Sierra® Powerglide Wheeled Laptop Backpack or Lightweight Bean Bag Game.
