October 5 is Global Teacher Appreciation Day—an opportunity to say “Thank You” to teachers, staff, and volunteers for the amazing work they do all year long. It doesn’t take much, but that simple “thank you” can mean the world and shows that you recognize the talent it takes to guide our leaders of tomorrow. To say thanks, do something they won’t forget! |
Smart brew: Coffee theme Give teachers a warm welcome in the morning as they come in to school. Work with students and parents to set up a serving station and offer coffee, tea, muffins and fruit to teachers to start their day. Serve beverages in a reusable mug imprinted with a personalized thank-you message for a continued reminder of your appreciation. |
Reasoning and seasoning: BBQ theme Kick off the day with a picnic-style lunch to show your appreciation. Have students serve the food and beverages. Ask parents to help monitor students during the lunch hour, so all teachers can enjoy the celebration. Send them off with custom-printed coolers and blankets to continue their picnicking at home. |
Growing young minds: Gardening theme Assemble a gift-card bouquet with gift cards teachers can use to buy classroom supplies. Or, for a more personal touch, give gift cards to their favourite stores and restaurants. Make flowers out of construction paper or tissue paper and attach a gift card to each flower. Arrange the flowers in a flower pot, pretty vase, mason jar or reusable glass water bottle. You can even include packets of flower seeds for their home garden with a note that says ‘Thank you for helping us grow!’ |
Easy organizing: Technology theme Going back and forth from home to the classroom means computer files need to move back and forth, too. Thank your teachers with a USB flash drive imprinted with the school’s logo to make it recognizable for schoolwork. |

With a thoughtful celebration, your hard-working teachers will know that they are appreciated on this day and throughout the year! |
