Industry trends indicate that trade show goers want something more than sparkly dresses and Vanna White-esque presentations to showcase products and services. Exhibitor magazine’s latest trade show trends survey indicates that attendees spend an average of 8.1 hours per trade show visiting exhibits. People don’t just want to browse or be approached by superficial presenters, they want to talk to and learn about your organization and what it offers.What’s more, 35 percent of attendees are first timers to any given trade show, illustrating the need to provide information and demonstrations that are impactful and valuable in order to make a lasting impression on attendees not likely to be seen next year.

Trade show organizers should take note of these trends in order to provide a fun and valuable experience for the trade show participant—successful booths not only steal the show but help to keep your booth and your business top of mind long after the show ends. Check out these other trends that are sure to get you there:

  • Attendees can now “check-in” to trade shows on Foursquare™ and receive special deals from exhibitors, or “check-in” to individual booths to be entered to win prizes like a Folding Cooler Chair or a Set of Stemless Wine glasses.
  • Exhibitors are offering opportunities for connection before or after the trade show floor opens or closes by sponsoring breakfast or cocktail Tweetups (meetings or events promoted to a business’s Twitter followers) at local coffee shops or restaurants. Trade show goers who attend these often walk away with the exhibitor’s contact information on fun items like branded Laptop Sleeves or Chocolate Truffle Boxes.
  • LCD and television screens are remaining on the list of now-common booth equipment, providing an unobtrusive way of offering information, movement, sound and colour to exhibits.
