one by one® story: Louisiana HOSA

Health care professionals touch lives. And it’s also an industry struggling to cope with increased need. Louisiana HOSA – Future Health Professionals is an organization that helps high school students interested in a healthcare career learn more about career options while gaining related skills. The students attend conferences, job shadow, talk with healthcare professionals, do community service and much more. Louisiana HOSA works to reach students in every corner of the state, encouraging future health workers to return to their hometowns and other areas where they’re needed. To help build a pipeline of future healthcare professionals, Louisiana HOSA provides seed packets and pens as recruitment giveaways to spread brand awareness.

Discovering fulfilling healthcare careers with recruitment giveaways

In healthcare, there’s something for everyone. For instance, some students are surprised to find that while they never had an interest in surgery, they’d love to be in the record or X-ray department. Louisiana HOSA helps them find a career that suits them and pays well.

One former high school student, Dakarai Moton, thought he wanted to be a broadcaster. After a teacher introduced him to Louisiana HOSA, Moton jumped headfirst into the program and discovered new interests. He just recently started his residency as a doctor and plans to practice family medicine.

Louisiana HOSA also travels to events and hosts an annual conference. They always want to give away items that remind people of who they are and what they do. This year, thanks to the 4imprint one by one® grant, Louisiana HOSA was able to order seed packets and pen giveaways as recruitment giveaways.

“As soon as they opened their seed packets, so many people said they loved them and couldn’t wait to plant them. When their seeds grow, their plant will help them to remember us. And the pens write really well! People always ask for our pens at events,” said Shirlene Bender, Executive Director and State Advisor of Louisiana HOSA.
