Sketching a unique promo item
To begin bringing this unique promotional product idea to life, our merchandising team develops a sketch. This could be as simple as a pencil drawing on the back of a napkin or a doodle on a notebook. Sketching the concept lets us talk about it with one another, laying the groundwork for all of the brainstorming to come.
Building a technical drawing of a promotional product
From the sketch, we develop a technical drawing. This allows us to understand the particulars of the idea better and see the potential challenges of developing it into a promotional product customers will find both appealing and useful. With a technical drawing, we take a closer look at the construction and function of the product.
Performing a design review
Once we complete the technical drawing, we perform a design review with our supplier-partners. This allows us to talk about any potential challenges in manufacturing the promotional product.
Crafting a unique promo item prototype
The next step is the review of a prototype—our vision brought to life. When developing a unique giveaway, this is a vital part of our process. It allows us to hold the item in our hands, feel the texture of the design, and assess how the user will experience the product.
We can also compare the prototype to similar promotional products. This hands-on step gives us insight into aspects of the design that may not have been apparent when we viewed the product in its two-dimensional format. Testing the prototype allows us to tweak the product’s design and create the specifications for an item that will only be available at 4imprint.
Creating production samples
Once production has begun, we review production samples. We use these to make any final changes these unique giveaways need. Then the product goes to manufacturing for full production.
