Ordering promotional products is probably a small part of your job, but it’s a huge part of ours. That’s why our associates have to be experts in their field. They help our customers find, personalize and order thousands of promotional products every week. We pride ourselves on making sure the ordering process is smooth and hassle free so you can quickly move on to the next thing on your to-do list. Here are a few helpful tips from our staff to make your giveaway or gift as effective as possible.

And remember: Our reps are here to help, so don’t hesitate to call or email us for answers to your questions.

  1. Determine your purpose

Some promotional products are meant to really stand out and draw attention to your brand. If you’re trying to get as many eyes as possible on your logo, consider something with a large imprint. “Seek out contrast between item colour and imprint colour,” said Kristi A., a customer service manager. “We also have highly talented artists that can help you find the right size, style and colours for your imprint.”

Other promotional products are designed to be a bit more subdued. This is a common approach when choosing associate gifts, thanking donors or attending upscale events. You still want to offer a branded gift, but perhaps with a message that whispers rather than cheers.

For these gifts, a popular option is to use a tone-on-tone design. When the imprint color matches (or almost matches) the item color, your branding can still be seen by the user in a subtle fashion. If you’re looking for other imprint options, but would prefer not to do a tone-on-tone imprint, consider products that are laser engraved, debossed or deep-etched.

  1. Know your recipients’ likes and interests

Heather H., a customer inquiry rep, recommends that you “know the likes, dislikes and interests of your targeted recipients. Giving the right product can result in the biggest impact. Tailoring your product to a specific audience will ensure your promotional gift is appreciated and used.”

“If you aren’t sure what they’d like, just tell us about your upcoming event! We can offer many suggestions that are sure to make your event a success,” Heather continued. “We’re here and happy to help you find the perfect item.”

  1. Choose something that will last

There may be times when you want an inexpensive item that can reach a large group quickly, but sometimes it makes more sense to spend a little more for a durable item that keeps your message out there for months or even years.

That’s the word from Brian K., a special projects account manager at 4imprint.

“Some products will be used over and over rather than being tossed to the side,” he said. “If you order wireless ear buds, the print is on the case, which is also the charger, so the logo won’t get thrown away.”

Padfolios are another long-lasting product that people will use regularly. Or consider a sturdy duffel bag or backpack that can accompany them to the gym, to school or on vacation.

  1. Find the perfect product and add something extra

Once you’ve found the perfect promotional product, go the extra mile to really make your gift or giveaway memorable. This usually means pairing a larger item with something smaller to create a next-level impression. One of the most popular pairings starts with drinkware. Choose an eye-catching mug or tumbler and pair it with coffee, hot cocoa or an unexpected accessory.

For example, Steve C., a seasoned customer service rep, calls drink coasters one of the most underused promo products. “They can be used in multiple ways, such as imprinting photos, or as a promotion for a free drink.” Pair them with a kitchen spatula for an unexpected giveaway – the coaster can then act as a spoon rest to catch drips.
