A new decade is here! With younger consumers entering the marketplace, experts are predicting a variety of trends to look out for in the new year, including an increase in ecommerce use, the adaption of machine learning and a focus on brand transparency and authenticity. We have some tips, and some trendy promotional items, to help you kick off the new roaring ‘20s in style.

Plan on networking

It’s not what you know, it’s who you know. Start the year off by adding local networking events to your calendar. Whether it’s industry-specific or a local event hosted by your area chamber of commerce, networking events are a great way to make new connections while also growing professionally.

When you meet new contacts, leave an impression with memorable business cards, such as the Business Card Calendar. Or choose a new promotional item that doubles as a business card, such as a Heathered Sticky Memo Pad Box.

In addition to networking events, participate in community events that your target audience would be interested in attending. Reach out to the event planners for information on sponsorship or booth opportunities. If your business is able to have a booth, draw a crowd with a Mini Prize Drop with Case.

Recruit the right talent

Having the right people in the right positions can make all the difference. Figure out which positions your team needs to fill, and plan your hiring strategy.

To begin, consider developing a social media recruitment strategy. Seventy-three percent of millennials found their current job through a social media channel. Build organic and paid recruiting campaigns across several channels. Once you launch campaigns, track and monitor them to see which channels are the most effective. Then, reorganize the strategy accordingly. Thank everyone for applying with a small gift, such as a Norco Coffee Mug.

And don’t forget about your current team. When possible, offer employees growth opportunities with internal promotions and reorganization. Introduce the idea of a new challenge or role with an employee appreciation gift, such as a Crossland® Roll Up Blanket.

Motivate the masses

Setting goals and tracking progress are great ways to keep your team motivated. In addition to large year-end goals, set small ones to keep the whole team on track and provide a sense of accomplishment. Encourage team leaders to meet with employees to discuss individual goals. Set performance-based and professional development goals for every employee.

Meet with the entire company to discuss and share company-wide goals. Then, schedule regular meetings to communicate progress. When there’s good news to share, show employees your gratitude with a Rhythm Light-Up Bluetooth® Speaker or Polar Qi® Wireless Power Bank.

Make the workplace fun

A happy employee is a helpful and productive one. Keep your team smiling year-round by making the workplace fun. Consider organized off-site happy hours, birthday celebrations or even employee challenges. Ask for employees’ ideas and start implementing them in the new year.

For every fun event, bring some trendy promotional items to make the day even more memorable. For example, plan picnic lunches outside and provide Heathered Fleece Blankets for everyone to sit on. Or, bring Kolder Kaddies and Mason Jar Mugs to happy hour.
