Packaging and Praise

I read an article recently in Fast Company about praise.  The article discussed how we don’t give praise often enough and the effects that has in terms of missed opportunities.

Starbucks(R) clever packaging - bag and trayI want to use this opportunity to share some praise for a Starbucks(R) that very cleverly packaged my drinks.

Instead of placing all the drinks on those formed paper trays, they cut the trays in half and put them inside a brown paper bag. I bought a latte and Danish for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch at the same time.  They packaged it all up to help me carry it to the office.

This makes carrying the coffee much simpler.  (Usually, if I’m buying for the office, I end up praying to the gods that Kevin’s coffee doesn’t end up down the front of my clean white shirt!)

Does anyone from Starbucks(R) want to let us know if we’ll soon see this in all locations?  It was just impressive.

Was it cut by them, or was the drink tray manufactured like that?

If it was cut by them – sounds like a rogue packaging major in action!

    Hi Margo…

You guessed correctly.  It was cut by them.  I wonder how many spills they saw before coming up with the idea!
